Qigong to open, then a yoga block turns up the heat — hip flexors, stability, abs, and scorpion push-ups
We open with qigong — separating clouds, lung form, teacups — and then the block comes out and it gets interesting. Standing single-leg work on the block challenges your hip stability in ways flat ground just doesn't, and the hurdle drills are a real wake-up call for your hip flexors (the good kind). From there we go supine with the block under the pelvis for hip flexor release and leg circles, then into an abdominal series that's osteoporosis-friendly and genuinely hard. Side-lying, mermaid, boomerang, and scorpion push-ups round it out.
Most of us have tight, weak hip flexors — not loose ones — and this class addresses that directly, with both the challenge of the hurdle drills and the antidote of the block-supported release
The block-supported abdominal series is one of the best options out there if rounding up isn't right for your body — great for osteoporosis, disc issues, or anyone who needs to keep the neck out of it
Standing on an unstable surface with one leg trains the small stabilizers in the foot, ankle, and hip that never get worked on flat ground — and you'll feel it
Scorpion push-ups make another appearance — classical, tricep-intensive, and a full integration of everything opened in class
